How to change the order of Search Fields in OPAC searches

Introduction

This topic explains how to re-order the list of search fields such as title, author, publisher etc. available in the search function for library users in the OPAC. This can be used to move more frequently used fields to the top of the list, so that they are more easily accessible.

Changing the order of search fields

  • Log in as a System Administrator.
    • You will need to be logged in as a user with access to the Configuration menu on the top toolbar. If this isn’t visible, please contact an admin user or Bailey Support.
  • Click on Configuration, then Searching.
  • Under Search Tools, click Search Fields to load the Search Fields page (below).
  • Any search fields currently in use will be listed on the right hand side under Currently Displayed Fields, and their order (top to bottom) will show their sort order in the OPAC.
  • To reorder the fields, simply drag and drop them into their required new positions using the mouse.
  • To remove a field, click and drag it over to the Available Fields column on the left hand side.
  • Any fields listed in Available Fields can be added to the list of Currently Displayed Fields by dragging and dropping, and will then be visible in the OPAC.
  • Click the Save Fields button to save your changes.
