How to enable or disable scannable barcodes on book labels

Introduction

In KnowAll Matrix, you can print ‘Book Labels’ for Copy Items in your catalogue. ‘Book labels’ include basic information like the title, location, shelfmark and most importantly the Unique ID or Barcode Number which uniquely identifies each Copy Item. You can stick one the inside cover of a book, on a paper document or somewhere on your item. You can find more information about printing book labels here.

This article explains how to enable or disable adding the Unique ID in a barcode format on the Book Label. The illustration below shows a book label without a barcode.

If you enable this function then a barcode will also be included on your book labels. The barcode corresponds with the item’s unique ID number in the system and is printed using Code 128 specification. You should only enable the barcodes if you use Code 128 for your barcodes and you have Code 128 compatible barcode scanners. The illustration below shows a book label with a barcode.
