Viewing a list of current loans – overall and by borrower

Introduction

This help topic explains how to view a simple list of current items on loan, and also how to filter by borrower. This is the quickest way to obtain at-a-glance information on what is currently on loan.

Viewing items on loan

  • Log in as a Library Admin user and click on the Library Admin menu.
  • Click Borrowing on the main Library Admin menu, then under Loans, click Current Loans to open the Items Currently on Loan screen, as below.
Items Currently On Loan screen
  • In this screen, you can:
    • Click New Loan to start a new loan.
    • Click Return All to return all items on loan. (Useful if you are testing the system and need to reset.)
    • Click Renew Selected to renew all loans (with the option to use default return date settings or specify a particular return date).
    • Click on a title name in the Borrowed column to view the Copy Item Details for that borrowed item.
    • Click on a borrower name in the Borrowed By column to view information about that library user.
    • Click on the arrows next to a column header to sort by that column (ascending/descending).
  • The six icons at the end of each row are used to:
Loan function icons
  1. Block further renewals of this loan, and the same borrower borrowing this item again.
  2. Renew the loan.
  3. Return the loan.
  4. Create a reservation for this item.
  5. Email the borrower.
  6. Edit the loan.
  7. Delete the loan.

Viewing current loans by borrower

  • Click Borrowing on the main Library Admin menu, then under Loans, click Current Loans by Borrower to open the Current Loans by Borrower screen, as below.
Loans by Borrower - select user
  • Use the drop-down menu to select a library user. This will open the main Current Loans by Borrower screen, as below.

  • The same functions are available here as on the Items Currently on Loan screen (see above), although the ‘Borrowed By’ column is naturally absent.
  • The Return All and Renew All buttons will return/renew all loans for the selected user only.
  • The drop-down menu at the top of the screen can be used to select a different user.
